The first great idea is to make your wedding invites rhyme. Rhyming wedding invites not only bring a smile to people's faces but it can also help with the slightly awkward wording of informing the guests about your gift list or requesting contributions to the honeymoon (if that is what you are doing). While it is now considered quite acceptable to do this, wording the request in a polite and un-pushy manner can be quite a challenge. Making your speech rhyme helps to solve that. This is just a short excerpt from a wedding invitation which I wrote sometime ago. Feel free to use it exactly as is, or add in a few verses of your own. You'll certainly receive compliments from your guests for the originality. You don't even need to make it this long. You could just address the wedding gift list issue through rhyme, and make the rest of the invite normal.

One other nice touch I have recently seen in a wedding invite is, in the RSVP, the couple had asked for you to recommend a song for the playlist for the wedding reception. This gets your guests involved and lets them all feel they are contributing. Plus, you can guarantee they will be straight up on the dance floor when their song is played!
